Producer of Rebels to Dons x Kith x Clarks collaboration

As reported in V Magazine

“Rebels to Dons is paying loving tribute to Caribbean style with a new take on The Ronnie Fieg. In a collaboration with Fieg himself, the New York-based company creates an exclusive new design for the Clarks Maycliffe. The shoe debuts online on June 30th and Blue in Green is hosting an in-store celebration party on June 30th. The new shoe is part of 8th Street, Fieg’s innovative sub-label.

For decades, Clark Shoes have been the preferred footwear of Caribbean-born icons and iconoclasts. The British brand has released many Caribbean-inspired collections over the years, but this shoe marks the first created by a Caribbean-born designer. “It’s exciting to work with such a classic brand that has been a part of our culture for so long, said Joshua Joseph, founder of Rebels to Dons. ”And as the designer, I see this as an opportunity to give a sense of ownership to the people that truly embodied and embraced this brand so much.”

For his project, Joseph looks to the late 1970s and ‘80s for inspiration. During this time, Caribbean immigrants brought their distinctive fashion to the streets of New York City. Bringing together the two places that shaped him as a designer, Joseph shows “ how the city and the islands are connected through style.”

Turning the iconic Clarks Maycliffe into a mule, Joseph makes the shoe perfect for daytime and nighttime wear. “This is something that you can dress up and dress down, all at the same time,” said Joseph. A natural tan nubuck leather creates the silhouette of the shoe. A crepe outsole and stitched upper detailing showcase hallmarks of the Clarks brand. Wearers are free to customize their shoes with two removable fringed straps. One comes in a matching tan nubuck, while the other comes in nubuck Brun. Wearers can swap the straps or layer them together, creating opportunities for a one-of-a-kind look.

The Rebels to Dons x Clarks Maycliffe mule is part of a limited edition run. They are available on the Rebels to Dons website only, and at the Blue in Green SoHo boutique starting June 30th.”
